We are currently seeking a full-time, licensed, Electrical Engineer, PE to design power, lighting, and signal systems for commercial projects including schools, retail, industrial, municipal, commercial, critical care environments, healthcare, and more. As a mid-level position, you will oversee small to mid-sized lighting and power projects with a team of fellow licensed engineers, Graduate Electrical Engineers, and Electrical EITs. You will perform photometric analyses of lighting systems, use power analysis software to calculate voltage drop, short circuit currents and arc flash boundaries. Depending upon your experience, you may also be responsible for project management tasks such as creating and tracking budgets, overseeing the scheduling of projects, and reviewing construction documents.
In this role you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list:
Design electrical distribution systems starting from the utility source to the customer panelboards then to receptacles and equipment loads.
Perform site visits to document and assess existing electrical systems.
Select lighting fixtures and lighting control systems to comply with energy codes.
Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, to ensure that installation and operation conform to building codes, industry standards and customer requirements.
Create construction documents using AutoCAD and REVIT software.
Perform photometric lighting studies using AGi23 software.
Perform voltage drop, short circuit, and arc flash calculations along with load flow analyses using SKM Power Tools for Windows software.
Coordinate and attend meetings with clients, consultants, building officials, utility company representatives, owners, and internal staff members on projects.
Develop construction budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs.
Oversee project production efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Visit project sites to review progress and gauge conformance to construction documents.
Perform construction administration duties and review all construction document revisions with the Engineer of Record.
We require:
Four-year minimum degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
At least three years of recent experience as an Electrical PE in electrical building design
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills - Connections are a critical part of how we work.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and International Building Codes.
Knowledge or experience in the preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Other relevant programs could include Bluebeam, AGI-32, SKM Power Tools for Windows.
Physical Demands This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur. Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur. Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.
Position Type and Schedule This is a full-time, exempt position, with an expectation to work 40 hours per week. BHB offers flexible scheduling options, including five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days with a half day on Friday morning. While the start and end times of the workday can be adjusted, employees are expected to establish and maintain a consistent schedule which must encompass the core business hours of 9am – 4pm. Although overtime is not required, it is requested at times to meet our clients’ needs.
