We are currently seeking a full-time, exemptLiDAR Technician. As a LiDAR Technician, you analyze LiDAR data for various projects. The LiDAR Technician will work closely with our surveying team, to process and interpret LiDAR data, creating accurate 3D models and maps for use in planning, design, and analysis.
In this role you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list:
Process raw LiDAR data using specialized software to create point clouds, and other geospatial outputs.
Analyze point cloud data to derive meaningful insights, including terrain mapping of ground surface to create final products of various formats.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of collected data by performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) checks.
Work collaboratively with the surveying teams to ensure quality assurance.
Develop high-quality topographic maps, digital elevation models (DEMs), and 3D models from LiDAR data.
Generate technical reports and visualizations based on LiDAR data analysis to present to clients, stakeholders, or regulatory agencies.
Stay updated on emerging LiDAR technologies, software, and industry trends to continually improve workflows and data processing methods.
Provide training and technical support to junior staff or other team members as needed.
Survey Drafting will be required at times when needed.
We require:
2-4 years of experience working with LiDAR technology and data processing
Proficiency in LiDAR data processing software and 3D modeling software
Understanding of georeferencing, datum transformations, and coordinate systems
Experience with survey drafting, point cloud classification, filtering, and analysis
It helps to have:
Data processing experience relating to aerial and terrestrial LiDAR
Ability to work both in team environments and independently
Physical Demands This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur. Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur. Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.
Position Type and Schedule This is a full-time, exempt position, with an expectation to work 40 hours per week. BHB offers flexible scheduling options, including five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days with a half day on Friday morning. While the start and end times of the workday can be adjusted, employees are expected to establish and maintain a consistent schedule which must encompass the core business hours of 9am – 4pm. Although overtime is not required, it is requested at times to meet our clients’ needs.
