We are currently seeking a temporary Mechanical Intern to join us this summer. In this role, you will learn essential, career-developing skills from an established team of engineers. You will gain exposure to HVAC/Plumbing design projects and work with private and public clients. As an aspiring engineer, you will see all aspects of MEP Engineering and build upon your technical ability.

In this role you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list:
 
  • Work alongside PEs, EITs, Graduate Engineers, and Designers to design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, create mechanical drawings, perform design calculations, and code research.
  • Plumbing design to include domestic cold water, hot water, sanitary waste and vent, roof drainage, gas, and compressed-air utilities.
  • Design constant volume and variable volume ductwork systems.
  • Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.
  • Balance workload and varying requirements of multiple projects and project types (i.e. Commercial, Industrial, Faith Based, K-12 higher Education, Retail, Warehouse and Core & Shell, and more).
  • Provide field reports of the installed conditions per the design documents.
  • Accompany engineers on site visits to view ongoing company projects and review existing conditions.

We require: 

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.  Connections are a critical part of how we work. 

We like to see:

  • 12-18 hours of Mechanical engineering courses
  • Exposure to AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.  Other relevant programs could include Revit, Bluebeam, Autodesk Inventor, HAP, or Trace 700.

Physical Demands

This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur.  Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur.  Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.

This is a temporary position with no medical benefits or paid time off (PTO). Should the role transition into a full-time, permanent position, benefits and enrollment information will be provided.
